January’s over?

The year just began and it is already February. Seriously, it’s crazy how time flies. All in all, I’m still trying to grasp how my life has been to this day.

The last few months of 2009 allowed for drastic movement in my life:

I excitedly started school again at full-time status;
I relieved myself of work-related drama;
I returned to the Halau to dance hula and tahitian;
I started the winter season with a bad-ass team, with Aprille as an addition;
I bonded with some of the most awesome people;
And I have met even more people who have been making a lasting impact and are a contribution.

The quality of life in the last year has been probably at it’s best… as far as I can remember. I’ve been spending more time with my family and friends. I liberated myself from a drought in productivity, and I’ve just been content. I’ve allowed myself to contribute what I can. It’s not the situation, but more the state of mind.

It was up until then, I had forgotten who I was or what I wanted to do. I was so struck by what others thought of me, and what I should be doing and not what I wanted to do. Thank Jebus for the people who inspire me, and allow me to be me. I am doing me. Thank you….

So far, 2010 has been kind. This will be the best year yet. Growing with friends and family, clinicals start in about six months, the summer season will be my last season bowling, and Chris and I will be embarking on our journey of five years. Annnddd… it will be the Year of the Tiger soon. Maybe there will be even more positive energy and space for things to happen.

I truly am grateful for the people in my life, no matter what kind of communication or lack thereof, we’ve had. Even for someone driving in another car who would just smile at me, and I smile back. Things like that make my day. I’m grateful for every moment I live.

I come from a family whose values, morals and ethics are about family, unconditional love, sharing, hard work and humility.
Granted, I’m not the best representation that my family would like me to be: I have the worst mouth a female could possibly have, my personal hygiene is just enough, and I can be extremely sarcastic.
Regardless of all the flaws I may have or the imperfection of my character, I am accepted for the way I am and the way I am not.

It has got to be a part of the human condition for one to judge. One must make judgments… about distance, about colors, about thoughts, feelings, and those thoughts and feelings about others.

This really isn’t something to lose sleep over, although I can’t help but feel incomplete.

In regards to my parents, they work so hard. They really do. Its the love for their family, for myself and my brothers, that keeps them going. I know it. They tell me that as long as we all finish school, it will be all worth it in the end. I would hope that in the end I won’t be a dishonor to my family, especially to my parents and the names they carry.

Working so hard, and trying to make a living–to make a difference in at least one person’s life–is what makes my life each day. To push others to be the best they can be, to share my life to the fullest extent, is what I do. At least, that’s what I hope I bring out in others.

The past few weeks, I’ve been reminding myself continuously of just how young I am. Next year I will be 24. Another year of life to embark on another journey. What do you do when you’re 24?

I don’t remember the last time I watched the sun go up. Its so beautiful so early in the morning. I’m so fortunate to see another day.
